Allantoin

Allantoin soothes and softens, and is one of the gentlest ingredients in common use.

It eases the look of irritation and helps smooth flaking, which is why it turns up in baby care, post-procedure formulas and anything aimed at compromised skin. It is rarely a headline active and often the reason a formula feels comfortable.
