Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid, and the distinction that matters is that it is oil-soluble. That lets it work inside the pore rather than only on the surface, which is why it suits blackheads and congestion where a surface exfoliant does little. It suits oily and blemish-prone skin, and is usually the first acid to try for clogged pores.
