Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid is the smallest alpha hydroxy acid, so it penetrates faster and further than the others. That makes it effective on texture, dullness and the look of fine lines, and also the most likely to sting. It increases sun sensitivity, so it belongs in an evening routine alongside daily sunscreen. Skin that reacts to it usually does better on lactic or polyhydroxy acids.
